SmartOps Fleet Announces Transformative Changes for eHailing Drivers

SmartOps Fleet is preparing to roll out a bold new chapter in its journey to empower eHailing drivers across South Africa. Starting 1 October 2025, SmartOps Fleet will transition its offerings away from the Bolt Rewards Programme, while maintaining its strategic relationship with Bolt as a Fleet. This transition opens the door for more flexible, inclusive, and driver-focused solutions that extend beyond Bolt to include all eHailing platforms, delivery teams, and courier services.

Over the years, SmartOps Fleet has introduced various improvements to make life easier for drivers. However, some parts of our offering remained inflexible, limiting accessibility and satisfaction for a wider base of drivers. Together with our colleagues from Bolt, after listening carefully to the experiences of our community—both positive and challenging—we have decided to take a decisive step toward a new, stand-alone structure designed to offer freedom, choice, and more beneficial for every driver.

Here’s how the new SmartOps Fleet version is built to give drivers more control and satisfaction:

While SmartOps Fleet previously introduced multiple improvements in collaboration with Bolt, the model still proved restrictive for some drivers. Many faced limitations tied to performance, platform exclusivity, and branding requirements for Vehicle Asset Financing (VAF).

After deep evaluation, we (SmartOps Fleet & Bolt) concluded that separating from the Bolt Rewards Programme and launching a flexible, stand-alone SmartOps Fleet system is the best way forward.

This transition ensures drivers enjoy true flexibility, fairness, and access—without unnecessary restrictions—while maintaining a strong working relationship with Bolt.
